Abstract -- The purpose of this project is to establish a general purpose「Typhoon Database」. The contents of this database will include synoptic weather charts, satellite imagery, radar pictures, typhoon track maps, rainfall distribution maps, meteorological observations of weather stations, and lists of damages due to typhoon invading Taiwan. The above information will be open to the public and the user can access data through network. In general, this database is not only for the general public but also for the research community. From July 1988 to the end of last year, we have accomplished the following three components of this project: (1) To establish the whole hardware device; (2) To collect the part of the history typhoon data which is by Mr. Wang (consultant of CWB) and other data source from CWB; (3) To accomplish the prototype of the data base and open to the public officially. In the future for next four years, we are going to (1) furnish the database for adding more data in and (2) improve the inquiring function of database and (3) maintain the database for normal operation.
