To understand and predict the rainfall associated with a typhoon
is one of the most concerned issues in both the operational weather
forecasting and the theoretical study. In this project, we demonstrate
several statistical models for the typhoon rainfalls associated
with other related weather information based on data collected by
the Central Weather Bureau. The statistical models considered include
regression, logistic regression, Bayesian analysis for binary response
as well as a mixed model. The results indicate that all the above
models perform better than the currently used average method. On
the other hand, it shows the above models deserve further study.
